Information

It is a great pleasure to invite you to the fourth edition of the BioCARLA, a CARLA event workshop biology, biomedical, and computer science researchers come together to discuss their research integrating high-performance computing, machine learning (ML), big data analytics techniques, and large-scale multi-omics data sets.

The biological and biomedical research field has undergone a significant transformation with the advent of high-throughput technologies. These innovative approaches have enabled the generation of multi-layered omics data, including genomes, transcriptomes, proteomes, metabolomes, microbiomes, epigenomes, and disease and patient phenotyping representations.
Further improvements are required to implement omics data on a large scale, including data acquisition, ML model robustness, interpretability methods in ML, accuracy performance, time-execution efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Common usage of omics technologies necessitates the HPC vision and direction for leveraging on-demand bioinformatics systems supported by a serious conceptual shift in research paradigm for many researchers in biological, biomedical clinical, scientific training, and performance evaluation.

The BioCARLA workshop provides a forum for discussing the challenges and exploring new directions in omics research across various fields, including biology, biomedical research, and computer science.

We look forward to welcoming you to the CARLA 2023 conference!

Call for papers

BioCARLA welcomes submissions from biology, biomedical, and computer science researchers who are involved in multidisciplinary research teams or startups. We invite original research papers integrating high-performance computing, machine learning, big data analytics techniques, and large-scale multi-omics data sets for discussion at the conference. Submissions should be of high quality and should present novel research findings or innovative approaches to existing challenges in the field.

  • Work presentation on a regular paper of 4 to 8 pages.
  • Poster presentation on a short paper of a maximum of 2 pages.

Submission Guidelines

All submitted works must adhere to the general guidelines for papers and posters outlined for CARLA 2023 (https://carla2023.org/en/callforpapers and https://carla2023.org/en/callforposters)
