Navigating Challenges and Opportunities of AI-driven High Throughput Computing

University: Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

Country: Brasil

I am an Associate Professor (pt-br: Professor Associado) at the Institute of Informatics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and also part of the Graduate Program in Computer Science (PPGC). I teach parallel computing in the graduate level; compilers and programming language paradigms for undergrads.

I used to be on postdoctoral leave sponsored by the European Project HPC4E (H2020) at Inria Grenoble Rhônes-Alpes, focusing on many topics related to High Performance Computing, Performance Analysis, Computer System Simulation and Energy-Aware Computing, under the supervision of Arnaud Legrand, head of the Polaris Research Team during the 2016/2017 year.

I used to be a research scientist in CNRS, France working in the MESCAL with Arnaud Legrand, and Jean-Marc Vincent. I hold a Ph.D. (2009) degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble (see the cotutelle agreement. My alma mater is the UFSM Brazil, where I got the Bachelor degree in Computer Science back in 2003.
