Quantum computing is the area of study focused on developing computer technology based on the principles of quantum-mechanical phenomena such as superposition and entanglement. Quantum computing is not about changing the physical substrate on which computation is done from classical to quantum, but rather changing the notion of computation itself. The change starts at the most basic level: the fundamental unit of computation is no longer the bit but rather the quantum bit or qubit. Placing computation on a quantum mechanical foundation led to the discovery of faster algorithms, novel cryptography mechanisms, and improved communication protocols.

The workshop brings together researchers, developers, and practitioners from industry, academia, and government laboratories developing, applying, deploying, and studying different aspects of quantum computing.

Participation/Call for Papers

We invite to submit papers (10-page + references) that present research results, that identify opportunities or challenges, and that present case studies/best practices in quantum computing fundamentals, quantum simulators, quantum machine learning, quantum algorithms, and any other related topic, with a brief oral presentation at the workshop. Selected papers will appear in the Colombian Computing Journal (Revista Colombiana de Computación), and authors will be invited to give an oral presentation of 15 to 20 minutes. Areas of interest for Latin America Quantum Computing Workshop include, but are not limited to:

  • Quantum Computing fundamentals.
  • Quantum Algorithms.
  • Quantum Computing simulation.
  • Quantum Machine Learning.
  • Quantum complexity.
  • Optical quantum information processing.
  • Quantum cryptography.

Review Process

All submissions will undergo a peer-review process consisting of three reviews by experts in the field, and evaluated according to relevance to the workshop theme, technical soundness, creativity, originality, and impact of method/results. Lightning round submissions will be evaluated primarily for relevance to the workshop.

Submission Process

Authors are invited to submit papers in PDF format (readable by Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 and higher) and formatted for 8.5in x 11in (U.S. Letter).

Papers must be self-contained and provide the technical substance required for the program committee to evaluate their contributions. Submitted papers must be original work that has not appeared in and is not under consideration for another conference or a journal.
